![]() ![]() I wonder if the shop did a good enough job. Then I had a really costly repair in 2008 to fix other seals inside the tranny and a torque converter (only 117kms). It was a bad seal that cost $330 (dried out), but I wonder if I caused damage to the tranny driving it with low fluid (I wasn't very car aware back then). It was discovered sometime in 2005 with about 80-85kms only on the odometer that I was leaking fluid. Better tranny response when hitting the gas.Īs stated, I also bought mine with low k. Her's shifts very smoothly between all gears, and going back and forth from R to D, no big jolt. She bought her car with low k too but has never had a tranny issue. One thing I have to know - are the automatic trannies in these cars from the Escort, Ford made? I just took my mom's car for a spin and again, great pull and performance. Is the o2 bad or not? There is one time ever I had a CEL come on in the six years I have owned the car it was a fluke, it came on for twenty seconds and went away. Those old plugs were only 3 months old when I threw that code back then. I don't understand how it could trip a code years ago, and not now. Now with the new plugs in (gap 0.040), took it for a rip and there is literally no difference in performance. I took pics of them, they all have a white glaze on them. They replaced my plugs with the NGK V-Powers I bought, the old ones were BKR5EGP, two years old with about 30,000kms/18700mi. He said the reliability was improved with OBD 2 and that OBD 1 has a wider "range" before the CEL will trigger. Another mechanic told me because its OBD 1, its not guaranteed when a sensor gets lazy and/or goes bad it will trip the CEL. I told him I wanted the TPS and MAF checked, he said it would throw a CEL if they were buggered. He mentioned a special tool from Mazda was needed to test the sensor (true?), but he used something else. When the mechanic tested the o2 sensor today, he said it was in "range" where it needed to be to work properly. ![]() I know I was doing it right, too - GND/TEN, warm, N, p-brake, all accessories off. I threw a code 17 two years ago (no CEL, jumped the computer) which lead me to think the o2 was bad when I recently tried to trip a code, I didn't get anything. Had the car in for service at the dealership I work for, felt I got jerked around, they didn't check the other two sensors I wanted checked.
